Scholarship Description: Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research (ICBR) at the University of Florida is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in the areas of bioinformatics and machine learning. The main job duty is to develop and apply machine learning and mathematics methodologies to address the computational challenges of analyzing tens of millions of sequences generated by next-generation pyrosequencing technologies for various biological and ecological applications.
This position is supported by an NSF funded project (90% effort) and ICBR (10% effort). Time-limited: 1-year contract with possible 2-year extension depending upon performance.

Scholarship Description: One six-month fellowship is available for a female social scientist from a developing nation, either a PhD candidate or post-doctoral scholar, whose work addresses women’s economic and social empowerment in that nation. • Preference may be given to applicants who will publish/lecture on the proposed project (thereby disseminating knowledge/skills gained) • Preference may be given to applicants who have not received FAIC funding within the past three years
Scholarship Description: Applications will be reviewed and a recommendation will be made to the FAIC board for final approval. Notification of awards will be six weeks after each deadline. Projects should take place six weeks to twelve months after the application deadline. Electronic submissions are encouraged but not required.
Important: you may submit your application electronically only if all of your materials (with the exception of letters of support) can be submitted electronically. Send the application form and all supporting materials in PDF (portable document format), RTF (rich text format) or Microsoft Word format.
