Scholarships for 2011 Indian National Academy of Engineering Awards, India

Study 2011 Scholarships Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) calls for Nominations for the following Awards/Scheme

Scholarships Level: Young engineers from Academia, Government, R&D Laboratories, Industry and Defence Services/ Professor/

Scholarships 2011 Description: INAE Young Engineer Award 2011 :Young engineers from Academia, Government, R&D Laboratories, Industry and Defence Services having age not more than 35 years as on 1 January 2011 are eligible for nomination. The criteria for the award is engineering research, excellence in engineering design, technology development and technology transfer which should have been carried out totally in India. The sponsor must be a Fellow of INAE or Head of the organization/institution where the nominee is working. The award shall consist of a citation and Rs 1 Lakh in cash.


Innovative Student Projects Award 2011: Nominations are invited from Deans/Head of engineering institutions for projects/theses at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral levels for assessing their innovative potential and intrinsic merit. Not more than two best projects/theses in each of major engineering disciplines, at each level for B.E./B.Tech. projects completed up to 31 May during the academic year 2010–2011; M.E./M.Tech. theses examined up to 31 May 2011 and Ph.D. theses examined and accepted/recommended for Award up to 31 May 2011, may be nominated by an engineering institution for consideration for the award. The award in each of the three categories will consist of a certificate and Rs 10,000.

AICTE-INAE Distinguished Visiting Professorship Scheme: INAE jointly with AICTE launched a Distinguished Visiting Professorship (DVP) Scheme during the year 1999 which envisages promotion of industry– institute interaction by facilitating the dissemination of knowledge through the expertise of experienced persons from industry to integrate their rich industrial experience with technical education. Nominations are invited fromthe industry and R&D Labs. The Distinguished Visiting Professor will be reimbursed air fare to the engineering institutions; an honorarium of Rs 3000 per lecture day plus incidental charges.

2011 Scholarships The Professor Stuart Wilson for the Applicants of EU/UK and Overseas in MA South East Asian Studies at SOAS in UK

Scholarships 2011 Description: Two scholarships are available, one for an overseas fee-paying student and one for a UK/EU fee-paying student, for the full-time MA South East Asian Studies at SOAS for the academic session 2011/12. The scholarship for the overseas fee-paying student is intended to off-set the tuition fees at the overseas rate.


The scholarship for the UK/EU fee-paying students is intended to off-set the tuition fees at the UK/EU rate*. (*Please note that this scholarship does not cover the Equal Learning Qualification – ELQ fee. Due to a change in Government funding policy if you are applying for a Masters degree and already have an equivalent or higher qualification or expect to complete an equivalent or higher qualification while studying for a Master’s degree at SOAS, you will be liable to higher fees.


Applicants must have applied for a place to study at the School at least four weeks before the scholarship closing date in order to be considered for these scholarships.Applicants must normally possess or expect to be awarded a First Class Honours Degree or equivalent. Applicants with upper second class level may also apply, but will not be given preference. Students with a non-UK degree will be assessed on the basis of their references and transcripts.This scholarship is open to UK/EU and overseas applicants.

IWMI seeks a highly competent and motivated economist or social scientist to provide economic and/or social science perspectives, methodologies and analysis on components of research projects related to water use, food production, climate change adaptation and poverty, in Nepal.

Scholarships 2011 Description: You Must Have-
• A Ph.D. in economics, anthropology, sociology, geography, or a related discipline.
And you must have experience in:
• conducting multi-level policy and institutional analysis in water resources development, with a focus on agricultural water management and rural development.
• participatory research methods such as semi-structure interviews, key informant analysis, problem tree assessment, focus group discussions, and direct observation.
• writing multi-disciplinary research proposals for IWMI’s work in the region.
• liaising with both donors and national government agencies to ensure IWMI’s research impact and uptake in the region.

You must possess:
• a minimum of five years research experience on water/land or natural resources management in developing countries.
• proven familiarity with economics and social science issues and methods as related to agricultural water use in developing countries.
• competence in the application of statistical methods.
• a proven track record of publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
It would be useful if you had:
• a knowledge of existing bureaucratic structures, legal regulations, and inter-sectoral relationships of relevant ministries/government
agencies in the Himalayan region.
• working experience in developing countries, especially South Asia.
